The #Arab conquest of Iraq, Syria and Turkey is the cause of the Assyrian #diaspora. It was after the breaking up of Assyria that the long history of #genocide and atrocities of #Ancient Assyrian peoples began. The most recent mass #migration of Assyrians/Chaldeans was in 2010 to current with Iraqi and Syrian #Assyrians fleeing #ISIL and other #Sunni#extremist groups. The population of Assyrians/Chaldeans is only 3.3 million #worldwide and the top ten countries where the majority live is Iraq, Syria, U.S., #Sweden, Jordan, #Germany, #Iran, #Lebanon, Turkey and #Russia. The route is same as any other refugee fleeing #Iraq and #Syria through #Turkey or #Jordan to #Europe.
